Real Estate in Thompsons Station Tennessee....
 

Thompson's Station is located 7 miles south of Franklin, adjacent to Spring Hill. Incorporated in 1990 with a population of 791. A special census of Thompson's Station was completed in 1995 with a total population of 971. Thompson's Station is in the 3rd Voting district. The area later to become Thompson's Station was beginning to be settled as early as 1799 by pioneers, mostly from Virginia, and North Carolina. The pioneers had received land grants for service in the Revolutionary War.

Some of the first families into the area were the James Bufords, Chapman Whites, Francis Giddens, and Hardy Murfrees. According to Tennessee Postoffices and Postmaster Appointments, 1799 - 1984, the community was called Whit House in 1833. In 1836, the name was changed to Littlebury or Littleberry, apparently after Littleberry R. Starks who was appointed postmaster that same year.

 

In 1856, Dr. Elijah Thompson gave land on which the village was built. From this time, the community has been called Thompson's Station. Dr. Thompson was instumental in securing funds for the railroad which made Thompson's Station a prosperous shipping center for southern Williamson County. By 1886 the community had from 100 to 200 inhabitants, according to Goodspeed's History of Williamson County.

In 1989, Spring Hill was chosen as the site of General Motors' new plant which would design and produce the Saturn automobile. Being so near Thompson's Station, it has brought an explosion of residential developments to the area. In 1990 the town was incorporated to stop encroaching annexation from Spring Hill.
