Fairview is a city in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,800 at the 2000 census.
Geography
Fairview is located at 35°58′55″N, 87°7′45″W (35.982071, -87.129133).According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 36.6 km² (14.1 mi²). 36.5 km² (14.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (0.21%) is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 59,800 people, 58,105 households, and 57,606 families residing in the city. The population density was 158.7/km² (410.9/mi²). There were 2,245 housing units at an average density of 61.4/km² (159.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.07% White, 0.66% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.33% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.48% of the population.There were 2,105 households out of which 43.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.0% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% were non-families. 18.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.17.In the city the population was spread out with 30.3% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 34.1% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $44,148, and the median income for a family was $49,817. Males had a median income of $36,461 versus $26,277 for females. The per capita income for the city was $20,403. About 5.6% of families and 8.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under age 18 and 12.3% of those age 65 or over.
